RESEARCH ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP IN FARO PORTUGAL

DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY: The University of Algarve, founded in 1979, is a Portuguese public higher education institution located in the southern region of Portugal, the Algarve, having two campi in Faro and another campus in Portimão.

REQUIREMENTS: The internship will be developed under the scope of a scientific project that aims to explore salt marshes behavioural thresholds by understanding their evolution at variable timescales.
The project combines research on eco and physical interactions (ecology and morphology), aiming to predict the future ecogeomorphological changes on Ria Formosa marshes due to sea-level rise.
TASKS:
  • Develop databases for managing a variety of project data and data entry in to the database
  • Assess, preserve, and control archived drawings
  • Data compiling on key hydrological, sedimentological, and climatological variables
  • Fieldwork data collection for sediment fluxes determination
  • Topographic data collection to support environmental characterization
WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week
